Why does my dell laptop turn past its sell-by date on its own?

And I tried installing Windows XP Professional on my hard drive so I could remove everything on the notebook, but within the middle of the installation, it will just turn past its sell-by date on its own.
What should I do?

More then imagined it is a hardware issue. It sounds like it is overheating - are the fan turning? Could be something as easy as cleaning adjectives the dust out.
