My Compaq Presario's thorny disk crashed. I have need of background rescue and a investigational disk nifty and cheap. Any planning anyone?

I am recent grad looking for a profession. That means I stipulation the laptop badly and don't enjoy much money to fix it. The hard disk, started giving rotten some really loud noises contained by the morning and by afternoon, BIOS wasn't even detecting it. I am not sure how long it would take to fix this and how much a unknown one would cost. Same about information recovery too. Any suggestions or guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.
