MIDI upright volume problem (m-audio o2, ibook g4, garageband)?

I am using the m-audio o2 near a usb connection and garageband and the midi volume comes surrounded by very soft relative to read aloud clicking on the garageband software keyboard key. Is there anyway to increase the volume of the the ivories relative to everything else, without amplifying it using the EQ or overdrive, etc. The volume slider is adjectives the way up and also sometimes the sounds don't come through clearly. Could it be a unpromising USB cable or bad upright? Any help would be greatly appreciated, gratitude.

Answer:
Sorry to say it but garageband isnt a amazingly good application for midi compostition. I would suggest use 3.0.5 or fruity loops. But if i were you psyche read the manual and see if the key on the o2 have velocity settings. If it does afterwards you must turn the velocity all the instrument up to 127. Then there wont be a fluctuation between how not easy you hit the keys and how loud the sounds are play out garageband. But you should really look into common sense 3.0 its the ****. I currently run a mac mini g4 with abelton live 6 and foundation 3.0.5 on an m-audio axiom 49 key controller and i love it!!! Good luck
