Right presently it is better to use windows xp
Go for Vista its the best its faster than the xp and more advanced most recent graphics and much more.
vista looks nicer but i think if it be hard for you to capture used to xp from 98 then stick near xp
if the change be smooth then win vista
but it really matters on how you use a computer
i would recommend vista but get hold of the edition you would use. if you use the laptop for all type of stuff procure vista utamite

for immediately go to xp, vista have many flaws and things that can't be fixed minus a proper patch, plus vista is expensive! and to point out one of the flaws an iPod is not compatable with vista, it desires a certain patch that vista hasn't created even so .
Ok... First off... is it one of those HP Pavilion's or is it a non medium based laptop... If it is a medium based laptop close to the Pavilions, you should be automatically running on XP media edition... which I individually think would be better than a Vista.If its regular XP, you can go for Vista, but its a short time ago looks on the Vista that have changed... the extra programs and stuff Microsoft hold put in, are canceled out by the numerous bugs... If you want something that looks better than Vista, and perform even better...you might as well return with a mac... and since macs now run on Intel core 2's you can capture a mac, and run two OS's on it..meaning that you can run 1 mac and 1 window on the mac!
Vista Operating System is very unsullied. It has be launched lately and it may have some problems to use. Let the others experiment on this system. Window XP is more preferred very soon a days. Otherwise it is your choice.
I believe that you should go beside Vistas if you have the money and preferably PRO. I say this because surrounded by Vistas you will be able to format adjectives of your layouts in anything versions you what to. i.e. you could generate a word file or a spread sheet contained by Vista '07, but your friend is still using Win '98. You would be able to transport them a project copy format for their current computer. That option is not available within XP.
Stay with Windows\xp.. Until the service pack come out for Vista
well if u r going for a fresh laptop then i would speak better go for vista because someday or the other u will longing 2 upgrade 2 vista as it is the latest so why not budge for it now it self
Buy the laptop near a xp only because most of the applications dosent run on the VISTAa and that to most of the companies are giving vist home edition they are not conppitable for the nouns purpose and the hardware they they are giving with vista are not supported by by xp they are not supporting the drivers for the most up-to-date hardware with comes preinstalled vista . The hardware is individual meant compitable for the vista single so its better you buy a lapt top with a xp professional not beside home version.
for very soon its pointless to buy a laptop with xp since youve mentioned that youll buy a moral config notebook . you might as well opt for vista it have super cool graphics and its the latest . i recommend window vista home premium .
