Slow Start up on Laptop?

When I first get this Gateway Laptop it was terrifically quick starting up. I recentlly have some problems and had to totally wipe everything out and reload so the computer is approaching new again. After doing this I immediately find that the minute start up is now a 15 min. start up. Can here be something missing (i.e. missing registry or command) that might be causing this? After redo computer there be absolutely no other programs save for windows xp on my Laptop.

I can't be sure obviously, without looking at it, but it sounds approaching a few things that you can probably adjust.

Is it XP? If so, msconfig run from the command line (Start, Run, Type it).
