Windows Vista - Problems? Recommend?
For those who hold had first-hand experience near Vista on laptop (or desktop), have you have problems and would you recommend it?
Also, say I don't want vista. Would I be capable of tell Dell to not install Vista but put on XP or something?
Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

As someone say below, you're probably too late to find one next to Windows XP on it, however, I would check out the Dell.com web site. Build you a system find the specs you want and later CALL the 800#. Not only can they for sure share you if you'll be able to capture XP, but they'll give you a much better treaty than the web site. Generally this approach will save you $100 or more.
As far as Vista have problems. To be honest, all software is man made, they'll adjectives going to have problems and will never, ever be spotless. I'm not saying that Vista won't ever crash on you nor basis you any problems, but I can tell you that every single operating system that Microsoft have produced has be better than the last. Vista is no exception. Vista incorporates more deposit than ever before and have more search capability and personalization abilities than ever since. It's solid. I've had no problems next to it whatsoever. There are still some campatbility issues, but the blame for that can't be placed on Microsoft. Not at all, since the software/hardware manufacturer have have advance copies of Vista for a year or more and hold taken their sweet time to produce new drivers.
Anyway, I'd voice go near Vista, seriously. Especially since it's on a new PC.

I've been running Vista for several months very soon. (Beta 1, Beta 2 and now RTM, which is the journal on the store shelves). I've had almost no stability problems (BSODs) and the RTM reworked copy is very solid.
I've have IE die on me a couple of times but not Vista itself.
If you're worried about Vista consequently I imagine Dell will not enjoy a problem with supplying the laptop beside Windows XP instead of Vista.
You are probably too late to attain a computer with XP on it, unless you find someone selling one that be shipped from the factory before Microsoft sent its goons over to formulate sure they were loading Vista.
It will probably work sensibly, since the machine will hold to at least touch the minimum requirements for running Vista, but if you run into too many problems, I would try to find someone next to a copy of XP or WIN2K that you could load -- conceivably dual boot - so that whenever Microsoft gets around to fixing the a mixture of bugs and security leak (after their paying customers do their troubleshooting for them) then you could move about ahead and use it.

Actually your friend is surrounded by error. There will be less problems next to vista and less blue screen of death.
If you are getting a spanking new computer like I basically got, vista rules. It is much more stable and faster.
Also remember the window 98 curse. People didn't upgrade to windows xp and they be left out surrounded by the cold as now Microsoft doesn't even support 98 any more.
This will come to pass with xp imperfection my word and yes, I know what you are thinking...will that happen near vista? The answer is yes but in approaching 10 years from now they'll hold something different than vista.
There are so many moral reasons to getting vista such as its faster. I've see the specs on it and if xp was better I would hold on to xp myself but I am vista all the approach ESPECIALLY with gaming. Vista is much faster than xp.
One primary reason also to acquire vista is its a whole modern operating system.
All the viruses and adware and spyware are currently attacking window xp and 98 as these have be around for a while.
Also vista has Built surrounded by spyware and adware blocker which xp and 98 doesn't.
If you buy a laptop and you are looking at prices and quality run with hp. Check out the site below as they own awesome comuters and awesome specials. I got a computer dual amd core and no payments and interest for a year! It is the laptop I other wanted and I finally get it. Not a 14 in. eyeshade or 15 inc but 17 inch and it totally replaces my desktop.
I looked for 5 months and after very watchful review of price, vs quality vs customer service, nobody could play the drums HP.

I'm running Vista on a 5 year old laptop and it zoom.
But from what I've seen come across my HD surrounded by the course of the day within regards to Vista, it's be either no drivers all the same for hardware (manufacturers playing catchup) or salesmen sellling Home Basic with 512 MB of RAM.
This latter problem is slickly resolved by going back to the store and getting Home Premium and the 1 GB of RAM for just $100 more. They are much happier now.
When you buy your equipment, look one step above what you are buying. It will form you feel better down the road.
