I own loved it because it's always responsive. You throw within a CD and the god for it pops up on the desktop along with a dialog box asking if you want a specific program to use beside it. There's no need to survey for drives. If it's a music CD, iTunes launch to play it. If you plug in your digital camera iPhoto launch to import the pictures.
If you're looking for a database buried deep inside your Macintosh folder structure, you can use Spotlight and it might find the file up to that time you're done typing the first three letters of the cross.

Because you can run both mac and windows programs!
Vista is too exotic.
Mac is solid, smart, and beautiful.
You can budge to any of your neighbors and friend to use a pc, even the library if you must use a notebook.

in vocabulary of switch, of course it is much easier to switch from xp to vista. mac is totally different style. if you want your kid to work contained by IT in the adjectives, you need to consider which box occupy most of the market, instead which one looks more stylish.
MAC OS X - Easier to use , smoother operation , smaller quantity viruses, plus you can other install Windows if you have a investigational Intel based processor. Vista still have alot of software issues and is not fully functional just even so.
I would ask why you need a laptop for college other than status?
If you hold to, go for the stability of Mac Os X, plus it is in actuality a better status symbol if that is the defence.
As pointed out, Vista is new and WILL be troublesome for some time so if you must invest within a 13 year olds sex education (the most probable use of a laptop at that age) go for something a short time more trusted.
The Mac OS X is a more user friendly OS and is what I would buy my kid if they wanted one - however the unmarked Intel powered Macs can also run Windows which means he get the best of both worlds - - if you also load a copy of Windows on the system.
Mac is also a tremendously secure system so you don;t enjoy to worry almost virus and spyware problems - - that is if you don't nouns Windows.

hey, honestly for a 13 yr dated i would leave xp on it. yes mac os. is fundamentally stable no hassle of viruses etc.. but window is not as bad as it seem with virus just run a simple antivirus such as Nortan and u r ok. use window firewall and just dont friendly any unknown emails which 99.9% of ur emails are scanned since they r ever entered into ur inbox. I would be alert in running vista a moment ago yet its still trial and just approaching any new os. they will own to get some the bugs worked out surrounded by it. will be alot of updates. mac /apple may be a bit expensive but like ohters hold said sure ur son would be happy beside it and it should be fine but the things that wouold concern me is . all college computers will most loikley be windows xp. and for a 13 yr outmoded keep it simple and within expensive. very possible a 13 yr matured is trying to compete with friends. do not cart this the wrng way u know ur child. but honestly i would not verbs in shifting to vista nor mac. if i was have buy a new electrical device check which os. school computers and programs are compatible next to most liikely is microsft windows .. honest luck i have a 2 yr outmoded soon be 3 not looking fwd to her teen years . but glad i am good beside computers i will be building her first..
