How essential really is your mouse wad?

Answer:
Depends on the caring of mouse... the old ones next to the balls within them work better with a wipe. Newer optical ones don't need it.

It comes down to what works for you.
I own one of those optical mouses (mice?) so I don't really need a wad. But mine has a wad to rest my wrist on. It's very comfortable.
Depends on the type of mouse you enjoy. I have a trackball so don't entail one as I don't move my mouse (just the ball)...at work I have an optical mouse and still use a mousepad, but it's not really essential...

If you don't care to use a mousepad next try your mouse without one...it's unlikely to spoil the mouse...it (the mouse) just may work better next to one than without, especially if it's the rolling style...
I enjoy an optical mouse, so I don't really need a mouse wad. I also have one beside a ball, and it's better to use a mousepad near that kind of mouse.
First, in attendance is the comfprt factor. easier on the wrist to rest it on pad than a rugged table. easier to move the mouse on the pad than the desk table. and mouse pad are sometimes nice to look at.

so i rate mouse pads as still really important. perhaps not as required as in yesteryear, but still important.
when you hold a mouse with a orb it will be a little better
but i recommand getting an optical mouse it won't want anything specific in the surface (ecept to own a color )
and is a lot easier
