How do you replace key on a laptop?

The CTRL push button on my laptop just snapped stale. It also looks like the paste on the little rubber nub came rotten, too, because that came out beside the actual key, as all right. Both of the little pieces of white plastic are still on the key. Any guidance on how to get this entry back into place, or at least possible functional until I have a Dell technician come replace the entire baby grand?
