Get the driver from the philips website.
I have this problem a couple times already. Well I had to step get a alien cd rom drive replacement. Then it worked again. You should try that. Or maybe You merely simply need to use a dvd Player cleaner on Your lab top.
Clearing the registry filter in XP
Clear the registry filter (for Windows XP and 2000 only). If you do not have Windows XP or 2000, skip to the subsequent section.
CAUTION: These steps require the removal of the disc writing software (RecordNow, Easy CD Creator, etc..). On some models of HP and Compaq computers, it is not viable to restore the CD Writing software minus doing a system recovery. Look within the application recovery portion of System Tools to fashion sure that you can restore the CD writing software. If the moniker of the CD writing software is not down, do not use these steps. Instead, restart the PC and go to step 8.
1. Click Start, Run, and type the following into the Open corral: regedit
2. Click OK. The registry editor appears.
3. In Windows XP, click File, Export, type a filename that is natural for you to remember, and click Save.
In Windows 2000, click Registry, Export Registry File, type a filename that's easy for you to remember, and click Save.
A copy of the registry have saved for back-up purposes.
4. Click the plus sign (+) subsequent to the following items in the enumerate:
+ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ SYSTEM
+ CurrentControlSet (or the current control set with lowest number if specifically all explicitly listed)
+ Control
+ Class
5. Select 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002B...
6. Select UpperFilter in the right skylight and press the Delete key.
Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.
7. Select LowerFilters within the right window and press the Delete push button.
Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.
8. Delete all other UpperFilter and LowerFilter values inside the 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002B... key.
9. Close the registry editor and restart the computer.
