Bootable DVDs for laptop IBM T30?

Is it possible that my laptop would not know how to boot from DVDs but it can boot from CDs. I have successfully booted a linux disc on it before but i cant come across To get the bios to boot a DVD. I know it works because i hold successfully booted the dvd in my DELL laptop. The latop is IBM T30

Answer:
DVD and CD are two separate drives even though it is one.confused? Well thats they channel it is.

If the bios will not see a dvd on boot up, but will the CD later you must boot from a cd and not a dvd disc.

Go into your bios on start up and see if you can boot from a dvd.

Hope this helps

Peace

to boot beside which device is up to the bios on your motherboard. if your bios on the dell allows boot from cd then it will. if ibm does not after it wont.
btw: cd n dvd to the bios is the same device.
Sorry the DVD surrounded by the IBM will only boot from CD's disk and not DVD format for that model..
