If you of late got the laptop, it would be a correct idea to wipe the HDD and restoring the laptop to fresh. This way you rub out anything that may not be of your interest to be there, and two, adjectives devices are re-installed with fresh drivers.
If you do not preference to restore the computer, I suggest to right-click MY COMPUTER and then click PROPERTIES. Click the HARDWARE tab, and Click the DEVICE MANAGER contained by the DEVICE MANAGER section. Opening up this skylight will indicate what devices are running correctly and what devices are not.
If you see a "?" or "X" next to anything, this may be set to its either disabled or missing driver. Double click the device contained by peril, and it will tell you why exactly that device have been brought to your attention. From within you will know exactly you need installed surrounded by order for everything to work. Compaq/HP have a great download section of their support page.
make sure to Check your connections. next open a browser and click on File after on connect or work on line. if that still dosent work sort sure your device is on and the drivers installed.

if you have internet which i'm assuming you do lol, disconnect your modem from laptop and switch sour your modem at wall and disconnect, or just disconnect adjectives cables from fund of modem for minimum of 30 sec, then put your cable telecommunication and power wire backbone in and switch modem on permit it boot up ect till all lights are on but remember to depart from ethernet or if you use USB disconnected for now till restrained are done then plug your ethernet or usb stern in and should be ok
