Windows will be taking up about 5Gb. Also, did you know that a 60Gb tough drive as advertised by a factory owner only in actual fact stores 55.9Gb of file space due to the channel bytes are turned into kilo bytes and they are turned into mega bytes?
I'm no genius but I'd start looking for video, pictures, and music.
go to start>settings>control panel>after Add or Remove programs... then remove any programs that you dont use anymore... also, try running a disk clean-up... this happend to me yesterday and thats what i have to do to free up some space.
hope this helps...
I conjecture if you go into my computer and right click on the "c" drive and select properties it shows you a graph of what's surrounded by there and what is free.....not sure if this answers your grill or not. usually downloaded music takes up alot of space and slows your computer down. Go to control panel and add/remove programs also and start getting rid of stuff you don't use.

try a disk defragment or disk cleanup . to to start->programs>accessories> system Tools
23 for documents + 10 for programs including Windows.

Did you empty your recycle bin...
What almost your temp file for when you drop by the internet... you could have 10 Gb within there
And here is your swap file used by Windows for extra memory. You should set it for 500Mb.

Besides that... music and video files will gobble it.
at hand may be alot of cookies and temp internet files if u click on start and then beneath programs then accoutrements you should find system tools click on disk cleanup this will clean up adjectives unneccisary files on your computer.
Double click "my computer." Right click the hard drive deity and select 'Explore." XP will tell you the size of everything from drive C, down to database x. In all odds, your pc is complete up with pictures, music, and other documents.
I will step with the 1st answer
Videos consume the sturdy drive very at the double
However you have 60 GB drive, which is huge
If you don’t know what is taking your not easy drive's space; then I will recommend that you use the rescue cd and format your laptop and reinstall the system again, don’t use the file verbs wizard, just reclaim your important files on removable drive and later format your laptop. Don’t do this step unless you know how to do it.
THIS IS VERY EASY. DON'T MESS WITH TRIAL PROGRAMS OR ANY OF THAT B.S. Just open up my computer/ later open up the C disk. See that document of folders? Just right click on each of them and consequently go to properties, that will show you how big respectively folder is.
You need you Defragment your computer and when you done next to you go to the Add/ Remove Programs lower than the control panel and remove your unused programs. Also search you unharmed computer for Mp3 , Video files , And other picture and music files and remove them
