Macbbok pro next to a 128 or 256MB clear card?

I've be thinking about buying a macbook pro w/ 128 mb symbolic card and 3GB of RAM. I'll be using the CS3 suite w/ some video editing and design, and a little 3D design beside Cinema 4D and Maya. Is 128 MB of graphic memory adequate? I am a student and I'm working with a budget. I don't really want to invest to much money into the laptop because I'll buy another one is going on for 4 or 5 years.

HI!

I was contained by the same predicament and come across an article you might wanna check-out: http://www.barefeats.com/rosa03.html...

It basically say that while the 2.4 is nice, it might not be worth as much as it is...

Personally I think it depends on how you want to use your laptop. Will you be working on it recurrently enough that you involve bleeding-edge speed? Or will a laptop that'll save you X hundred dollars and can do like things, albeit a little slower, be fine?

It be for me = )

Best of luck on your decision!
Hi bxbomber,

I'm not sure that you can install different graphics cards inside of a MacBook or a MacBook Pro. I be under the summary that you could only install more RAM and a different tricky drive. You can buy the MacBook Pro (rather than a regular MacBook) and you will have a better graphics card beside the MacBook Pro.

The Mac Pro is a different matter, where on earth you can put what ever you want into the tower. You should go to the Apple network site to see what is really available and how much:

Best of luck to you.

Four or five years is a long time to own a laptop...especially if you are going to be using it for use with the CS 3 Suite, Maya, Cinema 4D and other video editing apps! You've made the right choice beside your pick of the MacBook Pro and you'll use every bit of the 3GB of RAM, so please don't cheap out on your graphics card.
Those are all amazingly graphics intensive applications that will eat up CPU cycles & RAM resembling mad IF you don't hold a graphics card with ample memory and a less powerful GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) to touch the screen redraws for you! The larger card from Apple not individual has twice the video RAM, it have a more powerful GPU that will let the rest of your laptop focus on the business of truly running your computer & the operating system.
Simply put, spending the extra bucks on the right card NOW will let your apps do their best living posssible and it will extend the useful existence of your laptop. A graphics/video student needs the best tools to develop their skills: you come across to have picked some great software, in a minute give it the hardware that it wants to work best...go next to the 256 MB card. Good Luck!
I don't think you can upgrade the video card surrounded by the Mac once you buy it. You could wait and ask some of your friends if the manners of the graphics card in the MBP is significantly different if you own a 128MB card or a 256MB card
