That site list most graphic cards for laptops on the flea market, if you want to play The Sims smoothly, you would need at lowest a 'Mid-Range Video Card'.
About 98% of laptops won't allow you to upgrade graphic cards after they are built, so if you seize a new laptop, choose sagaciously.

EDIT: Since you haven't bought a laptop yet, look for brands that permit you costumize the laptops.
Say for example, go to www.dell.com, hoover your mouse over 'notebooks', click 'Home & Home office'. Choose New Inspirons. Select any an inspiron 1420, or 1520. Click 'Build Yours'.
When building, you will be asked to select the following:
- Processor
- Operating System
- LCD Panel
- Memory
- Hard Drive
- Optical Drive
- Video Card.
The options that really situation are Processor, Memory and Video Card. As far as processor, choose anything that says 'Core 2 Duo' and you should be fine. For memory select 2 Gigs, and for video card select Nividia 8400GS, or Nvidia 8600GT - depending on which Inspiron you elected. If you notice, both the Nvidia 8400GS and the 8600GT are planned as either 'mid-range' or 'performance' cards on the website I mentioned since..
The same procedures apply if you get a notebook from HP, Sony, or other retailers that consent to you costumize the laptops.
The only other item you should be concerned when buying a laptop, is DVD burning. if you want that option, fashion sure that under Optical Drive you select something that especifically say 'DVD writer'
The lasst step before adding up the laptop to the cart, should be a rapid review. If you are unsure, you can post everything that appears there here, on QAPOP.com , and ask if it's a pious configuration.
kae-kae...from the last answer to your give somebody the third degree, you have a laptop equipped next to intel GMA 950 graphics...
you cannot upgrade laptop graphics processors...so you can either buy a hot laptop or use a nicely equipped desktop to play the sims 2
cut:
look in the specs of the prospective laptops and check to see what features of graphics processor they have.
currently i would recommend you try getting something near Radeon 2xxxx HD (fill in the x's beside #'s) or Geforce 8xxxx m (the larger the #, the more powerful the graphics for the individual brands)
note: i enjoy a laptop with an 8400m gt and it runs the sims 2 at 1280x800 resolution beside all settings on glorious smoothly.
