When booting up my laptop the Welcome blind (WindowsXP) is on too long. How can I shorten down time?

Answer:
this might be an instance of too masses items in your startup folder.
if it's trunk slowtime, boot next time into protected mode (via f8) and then jump to start>all programs>startup: contained by this folder you will find some items that you can do without..another issue might be whether you asked for a 'scan on boot' by an application (anti-v; spyware/malware finder; what ever you may have); after these, you may want to check your system for defragment involve, check for virus/malware junk, etc.
IF you uninstall some programs that thieve up a lot of memory. Just be in motion on to controlpanel click add remove program and uninstall stuff that lift up a lot of memory.
click start, run, type msconfig, hit enter. click on startup tab at top of glass. uncheck any items you do not want to start when computer boots. Some of these items really do not need to start when the computer starts, such as instant messenger programs, Quicktime and Adobe Reader icon in the system tray, etc.

click the boot.ini tab and contained by the bottom part of pane check the /noguiboot box. You won't have to look at the window boot screen--it will be black.

Then click apply or OK, same result. Reboot.
