When I set up a remote monitor it merely shows the Windows icon when starting and the "Ok to shutdown your computer" screen, otherwise the screen is blank. Thank you for your input.

possibly you laptop inverter or lcd screen hold a problem, you can see the inverter at the lower part of the lcd eyeshade when you removed the lcd screen front cover
