Can I run a program, such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, from an external complex drive, near my notebook?

I run programs from my external harddrive adjectives the time. I can run my paint shop pro, I am not real sure around Adobe, because they have abundantly more restrictions. The best thing to do would be to try and see. The brushes and other files from the program involve to go into my documents though, so I am not indisputable sure.
