Latitude D820 Wide Screen - Stock video driver sucks. How do I carry better blind resolution? 1280x800 sucks.

The business laptop comes near an nVidia Quadro NVS 120M video card that has 512MB onboard memory. The problem is that it's power is designed to support 4 independent external displays and the local LCD. This onboard driver will run a sweet flat panel monitor through the external video port like a champ, but it's attached panel sucks. I can't gain a better resolution than 1280x800.

I'm looking for a better driver, but it's not to be found at the nVidia website, nor the dell.

Any advice?

Answer:
Your video driver is tuned for your laptop's display capability.

Loading a driver other than the Dell/nVidia supplied driver could possibly despoil your video card and void any warranty.

Recommend that you regularly check the Dell web site for driver updates for adjectives of your laptop's hardware. Until then, avoid using drivers that are sour the spec charts.
Two different displays are listed:
1) 15.4 inch Ultra Sharp Display WSXGA+ Native resolution is 1680 x 1050 pixels

2) 15.4 inch WXGA Native resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels.

Dell list LatitudeTM D820 BEST as having the Ultra Sharp Display WSXGA+ and the Quadro.
