My dvd rom is comatose no lights no zilch and when you stick a pin contained by the hole it stayes shut HELP?

Shut down the PC.
Open the travel case of the PC and make sure that the power connector is fully seated on the DVD drive. They don't usually jerk loose, but it's the first troubleshooting step to check this.
Reboot the PC. See if you have power lights very soon. If you have power, try first performance the DVD drive using the button on it's front panel.
If that doesn't work use an Xacto knife around the edges of the DVD drawer to considerately pry it open. Once you seize it partially enlarge you should be able to verbs it open adjectives the way.
Check inside the drawer for possible obstruction, and/or cleanliness.
Try opening the crust and unpluging it if still nothing its unmoving
