New laptop, what type?
Money isn't really an issue, I only just want one that is reading light, portable, nice looking, ,cd/dvd drive, wireless, pretty good space available, swiftly, etc. etc.
Please give me suggestions!!!

As someone mentioned ahead of time, the Sony Vaio are ridiculously light and lean. Toshiba makes some lightweight rugged models too.
Avoid Dells. They break adjectives the time and are heavy and clunky. I have one and it was a monster to tote around. When you have a sack full of books and other gear, you appreciate a light laptop. I get rid of the Dell and got a Toshiba Satellite that be very strong, light, and have a wider screen. I've dropped it, spilled crap on it, and run it dry on the battery. It's a year and a partially old, still runs great, and holds a charge forever.

it comes down to how much you are spending and what you are using it for...
it sounds similar to a mac would be perfect for you and you can customize it for university
I am using a mac now and it hasn't disapointed me
I love my mac. 3 reason. It is easy to use. Granted it is different than a PC, but it make sense... Second is that it doesn't get virus. No cost to keep adding together protection. Third is that I can go to the Apple store for support ...support comes surrounded by the form of cute guys with brains!
SONY vaio laptops are awesome... and u can seize a lot of models... for university students..
dell inspiron! i love mine. you can put a cute cover on it if you want to at www.skinit.com i have 1 on mine. it is resembling a sticker thing but not really i loved mine since i get it. It does anything lol. <3
The best company for laptops is DELL I'm a computer technician and I recommend DELL to most of my customers. if you are looking for "looks" you can change the outside plastic grip of the laptop.
MAC its ok if you are not computer literate (mmm this is also valid for lazy and or frail people)
for some $600 or $700 you can get a nice wispy laptop with the up-to-the-minute prettiest operating system WINDOWS VISTA.
now if you are looking for some entity solid and durable for a great price. I would go near the IBM line. they enjoy the best laptops.
if you are looking for some thing EXTREMELY DURABLE (and near this I mean sock proof, river proof and resistant to under 17degress and over 270degress) you can buy a panasonic toughbook
its adjectives your choice ..but remember no matter what you buy when it return with to laptops ALLWAYS buy a 2 year warranty or more (it might cost you $30 or $40 ).
Remember that when laptops have problems it might cost up to $300 singular for labor to get it fixed...(including $60 JUST TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT!!!)
NOTE!!! DO NOT BUY SONY VAIO
They buy parts that cost them approaching 10 to 20usd from some foren manufacturers and mart their laptops for $2,000 or more just because the outside is pretty..

FOR $200 more, you can achieve a system with th same specs BUT near the Asus Z62Jm 14" WXGA casing, but it have no bluetooth, but it does have an nVidia 7300 128MB video card, which devoted card like to be precise good.

Now, if it can be heaver, next i can get more powerful systems nonetheless, for you. Is the screen size fine for you? Or would you resembling a bigger screen?

The Apple line of computers is virtually undisruptive from virus, spyware, adware, and other forms of virtual attacks. The MacBook ($999 with the student discount Apple gives) will conspicuously be a good buy. If you are convinced to get a Windows laptop, I would suggest Sony Vaio. I own the FE series, but the one I linked to is a great notebook, at a large amount. I recommend it as well
Whatever you do, stay away from cheap laptops (Everex, Compaq, etc) from local big-box retailers. Buy directly from a company, or from an electronics store, because you will most probable get better support if something go wrong.
