Hi. I am have a problem beside the startup peak on a dell dimension 5300 running window XP SP2?

the first eyeshade after power up is a dos screen that keep saying that floppy disk want failed. ( I hold no floppy on this machine) all the drives are not found, index them 1-5. after a pause of perchance 20 seconds, it consequently gives me the leeway of F-1 to continue, or F-12 for setup. If I choose F-1, window then boots generally. My question is, how do I go and get rid of that option peak each time I boot window? The typical startup option blind that gives you X amount of time to choose the OS , and asks what OS you want to use for startup is nowhere to be found. Also , if the disks are not found, how is it that window can continue to boot up generally after the F-1 choice? Thanks.

Answer:
incorrect bios settings

instead of f1 to continue
choose f12 to setup

boot option
select cd / dvd for first boot device
select hard drive for second boot device

set free
exit

done !
you need to do this within the bios. someone changed the setting for the floppy boot seek. if no floppy, the alteration the boot up to cdrom and second is the HDD. hit del when system first comes on.
The machine is recitation you that the hardware that is attached is not one and the same as the hardware which is recorded surrounded by cmos. Hit the f12 key and progress into cmos. different machines are different in within bios layout but the general drift would be to find the drives option, review them, change them to echo the hardware that is contained by your machine. Save the settings and exit.

Some machines will account the setting into cmos from the hardware which is found so all you inevitability to do is save these settings and exit cmos.

Dell's website have the info to setup cmos.
change your boot command to boot from your hard drive first
