First-time laptop user seeking one for university underneath lb400, what would you suggest?

The MacBook sounds moderately good as it have all the features already surrounded by but it averages about lb700 so it's pretty much out my continuum.

Do all PCs not include packages and you hold to buy them yourself? I've heard doomed to failure stuff about Vista, so should I buy XP instead? How much does a roll cost?

I need the laptop for university. I'd be principally using it for Word, Internet and storing music and photos. I don't really need it for anything else, possibly Sims 2 but would I necessitate a really high memory and graphics card to support it?

Thanks for your minister to. I know nothing something like laptops, having never really used one. So if you recommend me anything else that might serve me, it'd be much appreciated.

Answers:

i own just sign up to Orange broadband at PC World and hold picked a laptop priced at lb369, but only have to pay lb19.99. The contract near Orange is for 24 months at either lb15 or lb20 per month depending on the packet that you choose. they had lots of other laptops going up contained by price but i only looked-for mine for my 11 year old daughter to mess around on. hope this help maybe you should call in their web site it,s advertise on there.
Laptops come so much cheaper surrounded by the US, if you have a relative going over soon, i amazingly highly recommend that you attain one there, you could procure a mac book for 1000$ which is just over 400 pounds which would be great for you or any retailer gives amazing deal on laptops. But you may have to be restricted to tougher european prices, which is no problem because dell has the inspiron 6400, which can be customised.

You carry to choose the components and shipping and tax is included. I importantly reccomend spending 25 pounds on the upgraded PROCESSOR it will be so much faster for so little. The rest is all outstandingly good, it give you decent sturdy drive space (storage) and ok graphics card etc. I would advise against sims 2 because it may slow your laptop down in its then life. It comes near windows xp leeway which is the better choice.

RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING YOUR FINAL CHOICE

This laptop will be your comanion for a while, look in shops, scrabble the net until you find whats right for you.

look for these specs.

-Windows XP
-1gb RAM
-Intel pentium, core duo, core 2 duo or AMD Turion
-80gb or around disk space

Congratulations on getting into university, i will you all the best what ever laptop you choose
i am a first time laptop user aswell.

iv got vista and it works resourcefully.
it was lb400
dell
mines a dell
its really gd
plus you can build adjectives your own packages that vary contained by price
and they ALWAYS seem to hold offers on so...
my dell have windows xp and they come near microsoft works. you can buy word student version if you want but works is of late the same!
memories and size of push vary surrounded by size
good luck!
i love my laptop!!

Tesco do laptops. And PC World will have offer on occasion when they cut the price on ex display or discontinued models.

lb400 is not like mad to work with and you'll be working on a minimum spec next to a Celeron M processor, 40 or maybe 80GB firm disk and 256MB RAM - but buy more RAM, get another 512MB contained by the laptop - buy it and have the Tech Guys fit it if you don't touch confident. Although it is straightforward.

You'll also be tied to the lesser particular makes such as iQon, Advent, etc. a bit than Sony, Toshiba, Dell etc.

Mmmm, Actually I just go to the Dell website and they have an Inspiron 1501 for lb349.

Add a second 512MB or mempry (1024 total), a DVDRW to burn DVD sized backup (6x the capacity of a CD) and the 6-cell battery-operated and you come in around lb414 including VAT and conferral. I'd pass on everything else at the moment.

If you involve wireless, Maplins and PC World do a PC Card that slots in the side of the laptop or even a USB device.

This Dell comes near XP Home and MS Works pre-installed so you can type up your notes and assignments.

You may also longing to add a printer - I'd recommend an all-in-one printer and Dell do offer when a printer is purchased with one of their systems. There's an all-in-one for something like lb26.

So that's lb440 total and it's a complete package for you to use.

Good Luck!

I'd be bold satisfactory to email or phone Dell about their student pricing plan. I'm sure they could arrange something.
