Is it advisable to update the BIOS firmware for the laptop. As per HP, up-to-the-minute firmware is released within Feb 07.?

The firmware on my laptop is of November 2005. What are the postive and distrustful effects of updating the BIOS firmware. What precautions to be taken.

Answer:
If it aint broke, don't fix it. Don't risk messing it up as the motherboard will be screwed if it goes wrong.
If it's working OK consequently leave it alone. You can ruin a gadget with a unpromising BIOS upgrade.
