Buying first laptop for arts school - any suggestions on what to buy?

I am going to buy a laptop for graduate institution. I will be carting it to institution with me every sunshine so would prefer something lighter if at all possible. I also call for something that isn't too terribly slow. I don't want anything that has lots of memory since I am using it simply for internet, applications close to Word and Powerpoint and that's about it! Any suggestions?

Answer:
I own an HP Pavilion and I'm pretty satisfied. I hear Toshiba wasn't that bad any.
you know, dell used to be the big dog, but HP has come along course...please buy an HP.

is really REALLY good.
If Acer Travelmate splash still out the market you should look for them, they are tremendously small physically, about partially the size against those dorm room desktop replacement laptops.
For light, i custom build laptops beneath 4 lbs and they use 2gb ram, intel core 2 duo cpu, 160gb 5400rpm tough drive, and built in wireless.

If you don't safekeeping how much you spend, by from Apple (some of the lightest computers in the world). You can buy a program for $100 to run Windows on it but I wouldn't do it if I be you. If you want to buy a regular computer don't buy a Dell because they treat you like crap once you buy it, and its ridiculously over priced. I've hear great things about HP, or you can try Sony. Good luck contained by your search for the faultless computer.
also, any new laptop will own windows vista on it. vista is a resource hog, and won't play nice beside anything less consequently 1 GB of ram. Two gigs would be better. The HP's are indeed well-mannered machines, and something in the 15.4" eyeshade size isn't too terribly lashing while being fitting for vewing.
IBM ThinkPad. Pick the one that suits you best, they are all great:

Well, I am not sure what your price scope is, but the MacBook is a great choice.
It is very hurriedly, USUALLY never gets virus, lightweight, great applications (iMovie, iDVD, iTunes, GarageBand, etc.), you can purchase Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage. It has a built-in webcam for CD videos, taking photographs or video conferencing. I would go for the one beside 1GB of Memory, it's about $1099. The one next to 512MB of Memory, I believe is $999. Please, consider the MacBook. It is a great machine and I am intensely glad with my purchase!
if you freshly complete a few quick tasks on this site they'll dispatch you a sony laptop, completely free of charge!!
You must spend your money for the best brand.

As I know HP and Dell are the best in laptops for a long time and they are incredibly reliable too. I trusted HP and I bought a HP laptop 2 years before, and still close to the day I bought it. Didn't even enjoy to service it at least once up to very soon.

I recommend you to buy a HP (with experience) or Dell laptop.

On www.hp.com you can even customize your laptop. And also you can check the price.
