How to copy files from one Mac to another using a 'router' and 'directly connecting them'?

I freshly bought a second Mac laptop and want to copy big files (pictures, music, videos) from one to the other. I have a 4 port router and own connected them both to the internet but one can not see the other.

And, I also want to know how to make one Mac laptop appear as a 'drive' to the other.

Is nearby a security risk using any method?

Answer:
1. Hook both Macs to the Router.
2. On one Mac, go into System Prefs -> Internet & Networking -> Sharing -> Services.
3. Click Personal File sharing "On".
4. Click "Start".
5. Take file of the IP address following the "afp://", in the lower portion of the porthole.
6. On the other Mac, Pull the Go menu down to "Connect to Server".
7. Enter the IP address into the field. Click the "+" button to incorporate it to favs.
8. Click "Connect".
9. Click "Registered User".
10. Enter the Account name & password of the picture running on the other Mac.
11. Click Connect. Wait for it. It may take a bit to "Authenticate".
12. Select the item you want to access.
13. Click OK.
14. It should mount on the Desktop.

No Security risk surrounded by either from the outside. In Target Disk mode, you're treating your startup drive as an external drive. Don't mess near things you shouldn't mess with.
