Open up control panel, next select System and Maintence, later click system, its should tell you your computer specs in attendance. If it still says two see, I would restart te computer or take out a RAm chip, restart and hold it register 512, then shut stale the pc and put the other 512 surrounded by and see if it goes to 1 see again.

Where is it telling you this memory amount? If it say page file size, that mode it's measuring virtual memory, not physical memory.
some laptops come near onboard ram its possible you already have 1gb so ur upgrade popped it up to 2gb
