What kindly of ports does a laptop call for to connect a mouse and speakers?

I'm looking into buying a laptop and I'd similar to to connect a mouse to it, and speakers. What ports should I make sure the laptop have before buying it so I can use a mouse and hook up speakers to it?

For a mouse you have need of either a PS/2 or USB. Most are USB at present and the laptop should have those. It may even own PS/2 capabilities.
