IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad. They last a long time and don't hold all that third body 'try me' and 'buy this' crap all over them. Plus, they hold some good built surrounded by security features developed by Lenovo.
The macbook. Although they are a bit expesive they are worth it. They work express and they get no virus. They have two sizes so according to your want pick the one that fits you best.

Well I hold a Dell Inspiron 9300 and love it. If you call Dell and tolerate them know what you need it for (such as gaming, for institution, work, etc...) they will build one to fit your needs without blemish. They have profusely of great deals too and if you are contained by school, Dell have discounts for some schools. Hope this help, good luck!!!
contained by my opinion sony vaio are by far the best window based laptops on the stir, they are not the cheapest but they are very reliable and enjoy good specs, you win what you pay for so i feel the extra cost is well worth it
I hold a Dell Centrino Duo - love it! It's durable (I work from home with 2 kids, ages 6 and 3) so I can save it in my kitchen or on the coffee table in need worries, and I've had no problems next to any of my hardware or software! Fantastic computer for the price!
