A few question: "It did not come with a cd" - do you scrounging it didnt come with a reload cd? Or cd burner?
If you don't hold a reload CD, you can reformat your laptop, explicitly wipe everything off of it, so it is totally verbs as long as you have a Windows XP disc and license code. Make sure you hold backed everything up first. Here's my personal guide on how to reformat:
1) Make sure you put a bet on up all of your central files
2) Next, put the windows XP cd into the drive. Restart your computer. If the boot sequence contained by your bios is set correctly you will be asked to press a key to boot from the XP disc...
(If it is not set, next hold down <DEL> or <F2> dependent on your motherboard to get into the BIOS (or 'setup') and alteration the boot sequence so that CDROM is the primary/first boot device)
3) Once you have done adjectives this, XP will start setting itself up and take you to the place where on earth you can choose to delete your partition (i.e. format your drive - NTFS), if you move about through the sequence and do that, then you can choose to press <ENTER> to set up XP on your drive. Make sure you own your license key to paw, as you will need to type that contained by. Apart from that it is pretty straight forward and XP will guide you through the setup.
