Don't buy DELL, Don't buy packard bell or advent.
We enjoy 2 Acers in our own flesh and blood, a 5612 with dual core which cost lb560 and a 3692 wich cost lb400.
Both are excellent machines. You will procure the 5612 from currys at lb499 and the 3692 don't think is available anymore.
Have a look at the HP at the relation below. Thinking about buying it for my daughter.

I`ve had a Dell for roughly speaking a year and its good spec and markedly reliable. Have a look at their website - you should get a moral one for that price.
Their backupservice is excellent to - my mains adaptor congested up - the replacement arrived the next afternoon
HP/Compaq are great, Dell is good, i don't similar to that you have to dig out around to find one in the shops to look at though. Sony's are extra nice, but extra priced, I've never see one worth the asking price. Lenovo thinkpads are excellent but they're generally business-ish and expensive, if you stipulation the features they're great laptops.
you don't wanna buy Gateway for sure, but since u only enjoy $650, I'd say that you should procure an HP or Compaq, not a Dell, HP and Compaq have intensely good point for the money! good luck!
You could buy a copy of Micro Mart computer magazine, it's individual lb1.99 and you will find numerous adverts. There are some excellent bargain in reconditioned as latest laptops with a full warranty. It's also a polite magazine if you want to know a little more something like how things work.
