at hand are a number of unix stale shoots ie linux is one with it's heaps flavours. I personally similar to saxenos, but there are some other nice ones out in attendance. Best bet before commiting is to download a live cd and hold a play to see if you like that distro

Depends on if you want it to "purely work" or if you want to play with it and tweak it. If you want something to work out of the box, take a Mac. Or if you want to use your same computer, get Linspire. If you want to swot up something and tweak your computer, use Linux. Try Ubuntu if you're just starting out, or OpenSUSE if you really want closely of options (my OS of choice!)

It came near Mac OS X (Mac OS 10).
I have worked next to Unix, AIX, Ultrix, OpenVMS, MVS, Windows, DOS, Oasis, and Linux but I find Mac OS X to be excellent and fun.

I say the best OS is Mac OS X. It's markedly fun and easy to use. It have a beautiful user-interface. But, if you want an even easier to use OS, hang around for Mac OS X Leopard. That OS will ship in October and I am hyped for it! Go to www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/ for more info on Leopard. The user interface is gorgeous!! the desktop is amazing!! you should really try Mac OS X.
Ubuntu Linux, I've be running it for a week now and believe me it kick the **** out of XP.
Linux Ubuntu (Love Beryl!) is pretty good, but individuals keep complaining nearly constant crashes (More than in window O.O) Mac OS X is best.
Dude there is solitary one OS out there thats correct and that is MAC! Its hasty, fun, reliable, crash proof, and practicly virus proof. If your tired of all the crap Windows does to you capture a mac you will love it. Make the Switch! You will not regret it!
