I'm looking to bring back a nouns top for editing dv's as very well as nonspecific use. Any philosophy? which software for editing?

Answer:
Get a macintosh. That's what Hollywood uses and, within general, the design/creative community. I hold owned a Mac for over 20 years and never regretted it. OSX is far superior to Windows. I haven't seen Vista but when I purchased a window machine a few days ago for my business, the store told me to stay away from it because there's terrifically little software to run on it.

True, Macs are more expensive but they're well worth the price difference. My computer store have 2 used Macs right now and we're not within a Mac market at adjectives. If you are you should be able to find more used machines. Or you can try ebay or craigslist.

As far as software it really depends on how serious you want to carry. Google "Video editing software" and start reading. Only you can decide which one to start beside.
Well If i were you I wouldn't we wasteing my time on here askign question youl get a crappy answer to and jump down to my local PC World or computer store...DERH!
try edit plus 2
You could buy a copy of Micro Mart computer magazine, it's singular lb1.99 and you will find numerous adverts. There are some excellent bargain in reconditioned as investigational laptops with a full warranty. Also greatly of brand new at discount prices. It's also a right magazine if you want to know a little more just about how things work. Hope this helps
Mac is a flawless choice as the free video edit software is comparatively good. If not, try getting Sony
Try NERO I own a friend who swears by it
