Rom, read one and only memory is where your programs and background are stored. Ram, random access memory is the actual nouns that your programs and data are moved to when you run them! RAM is the memory space where your application and other information gets loaded whenever you are working. ROM is used to store system orient data, which are used for system booting, startup, loading, etc. The ROM enable the computer to find out the operating system present, and then invokes the OS to be booted.
RAM is volatile ( erasable ) and ROM is non-volatile ( non-erasable ).
ROM is non-volatile because in attendance will not be any need for the user to regulation the settings. But now a days Erasable ROMs are available but they will be handle only by computer professionals but not by everyday users.
Both RAM and ROM are present in the Motherboard of the computer. The size or RAM will be close to a slot which will have 8 - 10 memory chips. ROM primarily will be a single chip attached to the mother board.

Basically chipset(BIOS), Booting programs stored contained by ROM. When we open any appication, it impermanent store in RAM. ROM is situated contained by Chip.and RAM is situated at Mother board provided slots.
