Adding memory to a laptop?

However, it merely has 512 MB of RAM and I would close to at least 1 Gig. So I be wondering, if I wanted a Gig would I hold to buy a separate GB of memory for it, or could I buy another 512 MB and combine that with the untested 512 for a Gig (1024 MB)?
I've never had a laptop previously so I'm not sure if you can do this or not. Thanks.

You could probably add another 512 Stick of RAM. I would recommend a matched duet.
It depends on your computer. If you can add on memeory to be precise if there are available slots you usually add 2 cards at one time. So if you want 1 Gig you should affix 2 cards of 256 mb of memory.
There should be a memory slot where you can only plug in an superfluous 512mb, and you'll be good to move about. Just to be safe though, enlarge up your laptop and verify that you do in reality have an available memory slot. You might not necessitate to actually remove the entire shell though, depending on your laptop model. Some own a little plate on the bottom of the computer you can remove to access the memory slots. Others (like mine) require removing a small plate on top and removing the baby grand to expose the expansion slot. You shouldn't have to purloin the entire thing apart.

This routine that the laptop can hold up to 2 GB of RAM, whether that be in the form of 2x1GB sticks or 1x2GB stick (IDK if anyone make that). Most laptops have two RAM slots.
Anyway, it say that it comes with 1x512MB stick, so you could any buy 1x1GB stick to replace the current 512, or 1x512GB stick to put in along next to the current 512. I would reccomend buying a 1GB stick and putting it in WITH the 512 stick. giving you 1.5GB total.

You can direct on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for moral ram.
