You can install the Unix operating system (more commonly Linux) on any laptop provided you can get the correct hardware drivers for the laptop you choose.

Most laptops come near MS Windows installed (because MS forces them to sell adjectives their products that way or loose their oem discount), so if you are inclined to buy a computer Window installed you could choose your own Unix OS.

So this would really be a question for the operating system supplier that you choose. If you are going to buy your OS from a supplier close to RedHat, they will tell you which hardware they will support - which in this day and age is almost everything.
