How can i find more memory for my laptop?

i own a laptop with 40gb hdd, i with the sole purpose use it for school but i want more memory or space in my system, the c and d drive are below 50% i enjoy cleaned out unused programs and files and have defragmented the system but still shows both drives below 50 %, what can i do to seize more memory for my laptop? am not a computer knowledgeable being, can someone help?

well unlike a laptop u cant upgrade your laptop or add memory to it. so will merely have to do what you've be doing and try to find and programs or files u really dont need and delete them. and if u own music or videos on your laptop u might want to delete those they pocket up alot of space.
