Not ample Virtual Memory Error - what should i do?

I just now started getting the following error when trying to run a game on my laptop: DirectX have reported you do not have adequate Virtual Memory to run this game. The spectator sport used to run fine. I have 2 GB of RAM and this is a Dell 600 (2GHz). I don't hold much else running either. I'm assuming I can progress a setting somewhere to set aside more virtual memory. Any ideas?

Answer:
Virtual Memory is space allocated on your concrete drive for those times that your physical memory (RAM) is not enough.

To increase the amount of virtual memory progress to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory "Change" > Custom Size > adjust as needed. 1.5 times your physical RAM is a good minimum and 3 times your physical memory contained by MB is good for your maximum.
Yes you can depending on the operating system. On XP I know you right click on my computer later select propertise and go to the tab that say adavnce and click the proformance button. There you will see the option to metamorphose virutal memory.
Virtual memory isn't like RAM, it's frozen drive your computer uses like memory. Go to control panel, system, advanced, consequently the settings tab under "performance", after advanced again. Where it says "virtual memory" click "change". Set the number to something superior. If you have a see of hard drive space to spare, in recent times go for 512mb or 1024mb. I can't believe you'd need more than that.
Virtual Memory is space allocated on your complicated drive
to increase the amount of virtual memory just right click on my computer> Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory "Change" > Custom Size > adjust as you approaching.
Virtual memory is space on your hard drive to be precise set aside to act resembling system memory. This is called the swap record. You can change your swap profile settings in Windows. In Windows XP, you can set/change your settings by going into the Control Panel, System, Advanced tab, Performance settings, after click the Advanced tab.

If you are running out of swap space, uninstall unused programs and free up some hard disk space. You might be running low.
Changing the amount of virtual memory is assured to change. In most situations where on earth an error message regarding a shortage of virtual memory, the problem is due to too little free complex drive space. As you know, virtual memory is created by treating some of the hard drive space (ROM) as if it be RAM. One solution would be to delete obsolete files and see if that corrects the problem. If you wat to metamorphosis the size of the virtual memory, right click My Computer > Properties > "Advance" tab > under "Performance" click [Settings] > "Advance" tab > lower than "Virtual Memory" > [Change] > select "Custom size" > under "Maximum" and "Minimum" enter "512 MB" or doesn`t matter what size you want > [Apply] > [O.K.]. You have 2GB of RAM installed, you can choose not to use virtual memory by setting the size to "0."
2 GB contained by itself is enough for any process to run properly.

To increase your Virtual memory..(if its window XP)...right click on My computer-->right click-->properties-->advanced-... settings-->advanced--->change. You can alter your virtual memory size here...

However tis could also because of anumber of unwanted processes running surrounded by the background at might be eatin up your RAM. Just to ensure enlarge Task Manager(ctrl+alt+del)--->roces... right click on the processes that you can identify and feel that you dont require it right in a minute...click on end process..do this for adjectives the processes you can identify....(Note :: if unknowingly you tend to close something that makes your lappy unstable... basically restart it and dont close that particular process the second time)... If this works out later Click on Start->Run, type msconfig, click OK -> choose startup--> and deselect all the processes that you don't want to startup automatically when your system boots.

Happy gaming.
