Best college Laptop for Journalism?
I am NOT going with a dell, gateway, or Sony Vaio.
Any other suggestions?
Answer:
I graduate with a journalism scope in '05. I did most of my work surrounded by the computer labs at school, and when I graduate I got a Dell Inspiron 6000. As a journalism focal, you will be doing a lot of research and writing. So, really adjectives you'd need is the Internet and a word processor. These are found on adjectives laptop models.
I'd look to find something that promises good battery-operated life, since you may be away from a power source to charge the laptop.
The individual above me suggested an Apple. Which is a good contrivance, but if you're used to the PC's, the Macs can be hard to operate for a while.
I'm not sure why you want to stray from Dell. You can phone up them and talk to them just about getting the exact specs that you want/need and they will build it for you.
Good luck and enjoy your schooling, I did.
You entail an Apple MacBook Pro me thinks
Grab a warranteed refurbished element that is lately off of Corporate Lease, for $249 to $549. Includes an OS. There are >500 outlets countrywide, indepentantly owned and operated, This one is one and only a mile form my home, and I know Pat and Greg, and trust them, http://cheaptronicsdepot.com
Buy a Mac. http://apple.com
I repair Macs and PCs of all make. I see the name brand refurbs, cheaper than the generics, and they are built better.
Hey noeheaven,
Excellent ask. As a former student of the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University, I sympathize entirely with your dilemma.
One of the best laptops to use surrounded by the area of journalism are made by (who else) Apple Computers. Not one and only are Macs more secure from outside attacks than those carrying Microsoft products, but Apple also creates products designed for publishing and/or journalism, such as Quark Xpress and Adobe PageMaker.
The best road to find good prices on the Internet for an Apple laptop would be to check out Web sites such as PriceWatch.com and eBay. You can almost other find a reasonable price for the best notebook on both sites.
I hope this answers your question, noeheaven, and I would close to to extend good wishes to you as you embark on your quest through college.
