Sound driver/card? (no sound)?

The nouns has gone from my laptop, it say "no sound card have been installed" and "can't find mixer" or "no nouns driver" I don't know whats going on.
I have go to control pannel> sound, speech and audio devices>Adjust system volume>hardware>audio codecs but in that is no yellow exclimation red mark, it says "this device IS working properly" But the individual sounds I can hear are the system sounds (eg startup, low battery)
I'm really stuck please help.

Answer:
1) reinstall the driver and check if its working, if this fail

got to step 2

2)There migh be some problem beside your sound card
if so
a)the jack might own been tattered
b)some internal pci slot must have be damaged

the same entity happend to me on my desktop.

all u enjoy to do is download a new nouns driver and restart ur computer after that.
