I doubt that you would entail to install sound drivers on a laptop if it have a headphone jack! Look at the manual! You probalby of late need to plug some receiver into it!

when you know the generate and model of your sound card you can stop by the manufacturers website to download the drivers, once installed your soundcard will be working and you'll hear nouns.

You must install the proper drivers for your nouns card. You should be able to find them on the Manufacturer of the laptop's site or the nouns card's site.
Go to Control Panel
Click on System
Click on Hardware
Click on Device Manager
Click on the + by Sound,video,game Contollers
*IF* you see any Yellow & Black ! point or Red X REMOVEE them
Shutdown your computer, NOT RESTART
Wait at lowest possible 2 minutes then restart computer
Windows SHOULD find and REinstall the drivers
Note: Even IF you don't see the above mentioned ! or X, freshly remove the sound card drivers anyway, consequently do the Shutdown procedure
Read the manual. My laptop have a Function key combo to turn the speakers on and past its sell-by date.
Did you check that your speakers aren't set to MUTE?
