My Win 98 Laptop won't tolerate me upgrade to Win 2000?

I enjoy a Compaq presario laptop. When I put in the disk for 2000, it one and only goes so far, later stops and does nothing.
Also, my pixels are640x480. The slider will not move to consent to me change the eyeshade area. Does this own anything to do with it?

I think you should hold at least 128mb of hit (min.) too or you will only be working slower.
Did you put together sure that the Compaq's Hardware meets Windows 2000 HCL? (hardware compatibility list)
Check your minimum system requirements on the software roll and you'll probably discover that you do not have ample RAM to upgrade to Win 2000. There are processor requirements, too, and you may be too "slow" with your ancient lappytoppy.
It may be encountering an unsupported piece of hardware.
will window 2000 minimum requirements are 64MB of ram,
133MHz Pentium 1,
but to run it will if you win it to install you will need 129MB of strike 266MHz Pentium 2.
and if your doing the upgrade install this start windows 98 and put the compact disc in and it will ask if you won't to install it.
or if you are installing it by dos agree to it reed the disc format the hard drive and start fresh
