Will any serious problems arise when I upgrade win98 to SE?

No. You'll be fine but know this : Microsoft doesn't support Win 98 anymore. You may want to go through Microsoft website and the Net to try to find all the hottest security patch for your system. There are sites that put together all the updates for Win98 contained by a single download. Make sure you have a impressively good antivirus,software firewall and antispywares installed on your PC. Win98SE is not as immobilize as winXP or Vista but if you follow my recommendation, you will be fine. Most hackers won't even bother near Win98 SE anymore because it's old and they enjoy bigger fish (hint: Ms new OS) to fry. It would be better if you also connect your Win98SE to a router since it will also feat as a hardware router. I have 3 pcs running WinXp Pro SP2, Win 98SE and Window Vista adjectives on my home network minus any problems whatsoever.
To the person who answered give or take a few win98SE not being a dutiful OS, that is totally incorrect. My elder comp has win98SE and have decent indemnity and is not a drone to spyware and adware and viruses. As long as you own good software anda apposite firewall, you'll be ok.

Very serious problems. I can commandeer a windows 98 tool in a short time ago a few seconds! There are NO guarantee updates, or ANY updates for that matter for window 98. If you use a windows 98 contrivance on the internet you are ASKING to be turned into a drone/bot which will then be used to transport SPAM, spread viruses and effect attacks on other systems. Don't do it.you are asking for big trouble.

After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide any incident support option or security updates. Microsoft is not offering a custom support agreement for these products.
It should be an unforced upgrade. Windows 98Se is a much better operating system than windows 98. There is more hardware computability than first edition. It is economically worth upgrading.
