Troubleshooting: How can I copy pictures on to cd?

My HP laptop is really outmoded and it runs on Windows XP. Since it doesn't have deeply of free space, I was going to burn my pictures onto CDs.

Anyways....
When I put a cd surrounded by my laptop, it reads the cd. But when I try to copy pictures onto a cd, the compact disc Writing Wizard says here is no disc in the drive. I put a brand investigational CD-R in the drive, so it can't be the cd (can it?).

Please Help~!!! Thank you

Answer:
dear asker at hand is two possiblities for your problem...
#1. your cd drive isn't functioning proplely.
#2. your cd burner (or writing which ever pleases you!) program isn't functioning either.
so i adivise you to use any of the nero products which worked wonders for me!!!(i promise you ;)).
I have the same problem, when I call tech support they told me it was because I have a DVD rom and could only burn music and software beside it, you need a DVD R/RW to burn photos and video, hope this help.
I'm guessing you know you have a compact disc burner. I've had friends ask me why their compact disc burner can't read DVDs, is the only function why I'm asking. But I might try one of those CD lens cleaners. Typically its merely a CD beside a very tiny brush. You play the compact disc and it cleans the laser lens. And then it might be capable of see the blank CD you put surrounded by there.
