Cleaning a laptop's memory?

I am buying a laptop from a co-worker, and I considered necessary to know what I need to do to verbs the computer's memory. I'm not sure what kind of matter he looked at, so I don't know if I just involve to do a simple defrag or something as drastic as a memory wipe. I've never done a memory wipe so I'm not sure how to do that if the case call for it.

Anyway advice on what I call for to do or any programs I need to download to assist me?

What Operating System will you be loading on this laptop? Most any OS (Windows, Linux, etc) will impart you the option to format the drive (wipe it clean) and install a fresh copy. This would delete adjectives of your co-workers data and start you stale fresh.

Chances are your co-worker would clean it back giving it to you in writ to get rid of anything that your co-worker wouldn't want you to see.
