What Laptop Processor should I progress for?
I am getting a bit confused, especially between Intel Core 2 Duo and the AMD Turion x2.
Any advice on which to turn for, or any other help for what I should be looking for?
Answer:
Core 2 Duo, adjectives AMD have ever done is try to hold on to up with Intel, if you're not bothered around battery duration then look for a 17" widescreen display, preferably near a glossy or 'x-brite' type peak. Only other things that will make a big difference are RAM (more the better obviously) and if you can stretch to it a 7200RPM drive, the 5400RPM ones are signifcantly slower.
intel Core Duo 2
Intel are currently the innovators, and it seem that they will be for a long time. The Core Duo 2 is a dynamic chip allowing you and the laptop to multi-task better.
go for the Intel Core 2 Duo. AMD only just isnt as good contained by a laptop as they are in desktops
The Turion series run extremely hot and take more power consequently Core 2 Duo.
AMD processors excel at gaming but usually only on desktops.
In a laptop I would step for Intel Core 2 Duo (Centrino)
Whatever you do dont buy a celeron
my favorite notebook processor on-date is the intel core 2 duo t7200
2.0 ghz, 667 mhz fsb, 4 mb l2 cache
perfect specs at a pretty good price
the t7400 & t7600 are even faster, but way too steeply priced
In standard I would usually say AMD, AMD is usually cheaper so you can return with a faster processor for less that make up for the differences. However at the moment for dual core and laptop processors I would suggest intel from what I have see intel have the better processors at the moment.
Saying that I hold AMD turion 64x2 and am happy near it.
