"Laptops tend to break more often than desktops" - yeah right...

If you pinch good vigilance of it(don't drop it, don't hit it, don't let it capture stolen), it should last basically as long as a desktop. However, there is this one issue, that if something does jump bad, afterwards a laptop is more expensive to repair than a desktop. Like if the LCD from a desktop goes desperate, you can get a investigational one for less than $200, but if the LCD on a laptop go bad, we might be chitchat of either a $50 repair, or a $500 repair depending on how fruitless the problem is..

Because repair prices can be extremely expensive, people will a short time ago opt for a new laptop, where on earth as if somthing goes wrong on a desktop, relations will take it to a repair shop because the repair can be really inexpensive.

Usually, something go wrong(on either desktop or laptop) after the third or fourth year, so that's why you preserve hearing culture say that.

Since this is your first laptop, do catch at least a two year warranty.
They are probably chitchat about your battery's expertise to hold a charge. After a few years, it really isnt able to do it anymore. You can in general get a current battery, but it will run you 100-300 bucks..
A laptop can concluding quite a few years I suppose if you hold really good meticulousness of it. Unfortunately from what I have see in the department, the first thing that go is the hard disk - it crashes and refuse to work and you lose the data (so pay for up often!).
The battery-operated too will not last as long after respectively recharge. Some people purloin the battery out unless they are travelling. The problem is if at hand is a power trip- it shuts down immediately short warning.

Other component bomb does happen but probably not so in the blink of an eye - it is just that replacement/repair are roughly more expensive (as compared to a desktop) - so an extended warranty that include parts replacement may be worth considering.
