Are in attendance laptops that are upgradeable?

I remember a tech-minded friend of mind told me give or take a few 5 or 6 years back that laptops be not upgradable, as far as upgrading the mobo/cpu. Are things different now?

Answer:
Things are pretty much impossible to tell apart now. Memory and complicated drive can usually be upgraded to a point, but not processor/motherboard. Reason being that laptops are notably integrated systems that fit a lot into a small space. Power and cooling concerns can cut-off date the range of hardware that will work acceptibly, so components approaching processors are generally not interchangable.
