The ATI is better but you will be a lot happier spending the extra bucks and getting an Intel beside a NV8400. If you want to save bucks jump to Dell Small business and look at the Vostro line, same as the Inspiron but more inexpensive.

Link to Product Deal Dell Small Business have the new Dell Vostro 1400 Notebook w/ Core 2 Duo T5470 1.6GHz, 14.1in WXGA w/ Truelife, 1GB, 160GB, DVD+-RW, 802.11g wireless, Vista Home Basic, 1yr warranty for singular $859 - $260 off = $599 w/ free shipping.

My direction... Don't get a Dell. I hold one and I spent more than it's worth. I am currently having problems beside the keyboard. But if you are set on getting a Dell, I conjecture these are comparable machines.
well look man, I budge for Pentium all they long,I merely bought a 1420, dual core centrino, highdef display, wireless card, bluetooth. the works in black... man is the stuff.I get me the 9 cell batt. it last longer, and also wi-fi catcher. inevitability I say more...15 is cool but this one is more porteble...walk on man get it... pious luck, ps I got me 2 see mem. 160 herddisk....Amd suckkkkkkkkkkkks.
They are both extremely comparible! If I had to choose though, it would be the Core 2 Duo.
Do not buy a Dell no situation what. If you buy a Dell, you will have greatly of problems, and when you call them, they will not know what to do because their customer support is horrible. If you don't want to concord with trouble, don't draw from a Dell. Instead, you should get a high-ranking quality Toshiba laptop. Toshiba's customer support is excellent, and so is their characteristic of their laptops. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I hold one, and I love it. You can get one from Pricemad for single $1,125.
