Sounds resembling a pretty nice machine. You rate a bit more for a sony, but they have a worthy rep. A few things jumped out at me. The knotty drive is good for a laptop, but it's relatively slow compared to a desktop computer 4200 rpm vs 7200. The RAM is only pc5300, vs. 6400 or so. But compared to my wife's laptop, this one scream. Oh, and one thing I didn't approaching was the card reader built-in, it one and only accepts the Sony stick. You will enjoy to get a reader if your other equipment uses Secure Digital (SD) cards similar to most people.
I agree near the first answerer, on all accounts.
Slow HD and RAM, however, those are pretty standard for the laptops this month... Who know a few months from now.
But, as long as it largely exceeds your instantaneous needs, its a extremely good buy. And contained by general, I agree that the Sony product have a bit more of a reputation in the nouns of product quality. A couple years ago, however, most, except all the Sony laptops cease to be produced in Japan...they close to most others are now made within China. China itself is not the issue...the issue is that the company was specifically looking to upgrade its profit margins. In doing so, they obviously be looking for cheaper labor, and manufacturing costs. I believe that open-handed of thinking obviously is expected to also place quality per element at a lower value.
In any travel case...I was responsible for selling laptops for a chief electronics retailer here in the US and we did see the number of returns due to fiasco increase. ITs as simple as that. Their edge be lost at the time. It could have be due to new industrial facilities a moment ago getting their game within order...who know.
For my money I would look at the Fujitsu brand. A bit better in the features for indistinguishable money. Faster hard drive, faster memory, and equal price, same part (in terms of returns per number of unit sold).
